Patient Voices in Pharmacy is more than a podcast. It’s a platform built from lived experience, fueled by compassion, and driven by a relentless commitment to protect patients. Hosted by Loretta Boesing, an experienced and passionate advocate in pharmacy, this show brings forward the voices that are rarely heard. Patients, caregivers, and families navigating a healthcare system that doesn’t always hear them. Each episode is rooted in real stories that will empower, as some share life-threatening struggles, and real hope, creating a space where truth is shared and change begins.
Loretta’s journey into advocacy was not chosen, but this podcast is to help do what so many pharmacists and advocates did for her story which was to listen, empower, and allow her to use her experience to push forward change. Her advocacy was born out of a moment no parent should ever have to face. When her son’s life-saving transplant medication was compromised during shipment, she witnessed firsthand the devastating consequences of a broken system. That experience ignited her purpose. Since then, she has poured her heart into fighting for safer medication practices, exposing the dangers of forced mail-order pharmacy policies, and challenging the harmful practices of pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs) that put patients at risk.
As the founder of Unite for Safe Medications, Loretta has brought patient concerns to the forefront of critical conversations across the country. She has spoken with legislators and engaged with the Federal Trade Commission, ensuring that the voices of patients are heard at the highest levels. Her work has drawn national attention, with her advocacy featured in coverage such as NBC News, US Today, The New York Times, and many other news media and alongside public radio and regional television.
While Patient Voices in Pharmacy is an independent podcast and a separate initiative from her work with Unite for Safe Medications, it carries forward the same deeply rooted mission to ensure that no patient feels unheard or alone. Through this platform, Loretta is expanding her impact, creating a space where stories turn into strength, knowledge turns into action, and voices turn into a movement.
This podcast is her love for her son and patients in action. It is a place for truth, hope, connection, and for change. When patients and caregivers bravely speak she has witnessed what can happen when the world truly listens. Healthcare will be transformed.
